Bernardo Freitas is actively involved in negotiating, structuring, and implementing M&A transactions, private equity and venture capital, joint ventures, corporate restructuring, tax and succession planning, capital markets, and reorganization. In the last few years, Bernardo has taken part in numerous investment transactions and corporate restructuring of business groups, advising domestic and foreign clients alike.
In addition, Bernardo advises clients on corporate litigation in cases involving relevant business groups.
He has great experience with corporate transactions relating to specialized sectors such as mining, energy, services in oil and gas, safety engineering, information technology, wholesale and retail business, real estate, including transnational transactions.
Bernardo Freitas taught Business Law at the Federal University of Minas Gerais – UFMG (2012-2013). He currently teaches “Securities and Capital Markets” at IBMEC/MG’s LL.M. in Corporate Law, as well as graduate-course level “Banking Contracts” and “Capital Markets Contracts” at Instituto de Altos Estudos em Direito/CEDIN.
Bernardo has coordinated and co-authored the books “Sociedades Anônimas e Mercado de Capitais: Estudos em Homenagem ao Prof. Osmar Brina Corrêa-Lima” (Quartier Latin, 2011), “Fundos de Investimentos – Aspectos Jurídicos, Regulamentares e Tributários” (Quartier Latin, 2015), and has co-authored the book “Finanças Corporativas – Aspectos Jurídicos e Estratégicos” (Atlas, 2016).
