Andrea Dawson is a Senior Associate with over 20-year experience practicing law covering 3 continents – Australia, South America, and Europe.

Andrea was born in Australia and returned to Chile where her family was originally from where she completed her law degree at the Universidad de Chile. Andrea started her career working in Switzerland at the World Intellectual Property Organisation, Arbitration and Mediation Centre, as a Case Manager in the resolution of domain name disputes, among other matters.

After residing in Switzerland for a number of years, Andrea moved back to Chile where she presided over the International trademark division of one of the top IP firms in Latin America for over 9 years. Andrea has an extensive amount of experience working with global brands helping them to protect their intellectual property both in Latin America and Internationally.

Since 2014, Andrea has built an impressive track record helping foreign companies to successfully operate in Chile and grow their businesses in the Region. Andrea has expanded on her intellectual property background to become a well-respected advisor to foreign companies in areas related to commercial, corporate, and labor law. Andrea has been involved with large value contracts revisions, high level negotiations, litigation, and the drafting of license, distribution, and technology agreements for a range of clients.

Andrea is fully bilingual in both English and Spanish.

  • Assisted Arrium with reviewing and negotiating over USD$100 million in grinding ball sales contracts in Latin America.

  • Assisted an Australian rail equipment provider win a Bolivian tender with YPF valued at over USD$6m.
  • Assisted Peruvian Explosives company, Exsa, with due diligence, commercial contract review, and general advice for the construction of a new chemical plant in Chile worth USD$15 million.
